 Registration Open House

For those wishing to register in person we will hold an Open House on Sunday, September 16th, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Waseca Intermediate School Commons

On Monday, October 22nd, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the WIS Commons we will hold a mandatory meeting for all players in grades 4th-7th.  This meeting is for players to be fitted for and to order uniforms.

The first day of practice for 4th-8th grade will be on October 27th and K-3 girls will be on December 1st and K-3 boys will be on December 8th.

At the 7th and 8th grade level teams will be formed with either an A and a B team or limited to one team which will be determined by evaluations.  If necessary, these evaluations will take place on Sunday, October 7th at 4:00 PM.

Those players that are interested in playing are required to attend the evaluations dates for their specific grade.  If a player is not placed on a WBA team it is encouraged they participate in school basketball.

The Waseca Basketball Association, Inc. will utilize a panel of 3 members which will include a High School Coach, a WBA Board member and/or a WBA Coach and the Head Coach in the evaluation process.  Through the use of drills and scrimmages the panel will evaluate the players on a combination of the following:

  • Effort/Attitude/Coachability
  • Sportsmanship
  • Team play
  • Player physical ability
  • Competitive nature
  • Overall basketball skills
  • Team balance (Need to create a balanced team with perimeter and post players)
  • Previous knowledge of player’s skills, work ethic, and capabilities based on observations at summer camps, open gyms, skills camps, or any other basketball related activities.

The duration of evaluations, drills used, and specific evaluation criteria may differ slightly between age group and between the boys and girls programs due to various factors, including the number of participants and talent level of the overall age group.

Any candidate not selected to a team will receive a full refund.
